Largest ETF Gainers Ending 11/24/06 Suprise SomeThe largest ETF gainers last week, and yes the gains for one week were large (7.5%), show an interesting trend. The top three funds for the week were iShares C&S Reality Majors(ICF),Wilshire REIT Fund (RWR), and iShares DJ U.S. Real Estate (IYR). So now real estate funds showed a large gain for the Thanksgiving Holiday Shortened Week.
Today Monday, the markets took a big hit. Each of these Real Estate ETFs lost at least 2.5% today.
The Exchange Traded Fund that came in 4th last week was iShares Silver Trust (SLV). Unlike the Real Estate Funds, this fund was up 0.63% today and looks strong for the long term. Metals funds can be volatile, especially silver which tends to be more volatile then Gold.
